In 2018, we decided to raise our own cows so we would know what they ate and how they were treated. We love meat but we didn't exactly love the thought of big commercial processors. We wanted to know where our meat came from, how it was raised and treated.
In 2019, we took our first steer to be butchered. We took him to a small butcher shop and believed he deserved better. Our steer was mixed in with other cattle and pigs. We were unsure if we got our own, original meat back. The whole point of raising our own cattle was to know they were raised humanely and fed quality food. This became the foundation for starting our own butcher shop.
After a lot of brainstorming and conversations, we decided to look into opening our own butcher shop. We aim to provide quality meat AND a nice, clean, less stressful environment for the livestock before they're processed. We want their "one bad day" to be only "a few bad minutes"
